The results of the SLC elections this past F riday m ay produce a critical showdown in student governm ent, due to the election of w rite in candidate, Ann M arie Tracey. The results of the SLC elections showed Ann M arie T racey and John Cullen vic­ torious on the North Quad. The w inners on the South Quad w ere Buzz Imhoff and Rich U rda, while Dave T ushar captured OffCampus.. Kezele will represen t the Towers. The vote w as 289 for Kezele and 29 for Joe Schupp. In the controversial Noth Quad election, Ann M arie T racey and John Cullen were elected to the SLC. Miss T racey received 435 votes while Cullen gathered 261 votes. Close behind Cullen w ere Je rry O’Connor with 223 votes, Tom Leahy with 222 votes, and T.C. T reanor with 138 votes. Com­ menting on his election, John Cullen wanted to thank all the North Quad can­ didates for a hard but clean fought cam ­ paign. Miss T racey com m ented that, “ I think my election indicates an aw arem ess of the real issues a t hand—coeducation.” She also rem arked that, “The students m ust take an active role in order to get the kind of co-education they w an t.” Miss Tracey expressed concern over the possibility of her being refused a seat on the SLC. One adm inistra tor was reportedly dism ayed a t the news of her election to the SLC and doubted if she would be allowed to sit on the Council. F rom the South Quad, Rich U rda and Buzz Imhoff garnered 521 and 670 votes respectively . Gary Caruso finished th ird in the race, with a total of 342 votes. Concerning his election, Buzz Imhoff rem arked that, “The big job is now to ca rry through the prom ises of the cam paign.” Imhoff went on to say tha t he hoped to bring the idea of SLC cooperation and com munication from theory to reality . Rich Urda said tha t he was pleased with the SLC results, belieing tha t the best candidates had won. He said tha t Buzz Imhoff and him self a re already discussing w ays to im p lem e n t th e ir ca m p a ig n program s. Urda rem arked tha t in a m eeting Saturday with F a th e r Hesburgh, Hesburgh was confident tha t the SLC would recover the potential it had a t its inception three years ago. The Off-Campus election results showed Dave Tushar defeating Joe Schlosser. Tushar received 59 votes com pared to Schlosser’s 29. Tushar sta ted that, “ I hope that I ’ll be able to do the best job possible.” Ann M arie Tracey John Cullen
